Auto transport shipping cost depends on many factors, transport companies are independent companies with their own pricing systems and price variables include seasonal among other factors . Auto transport takes time, so book your order as far  in advance as possible 7-10 days or more cushion is ok. Once your order is placed and confirmed, A-Z Auto Transport delivery averages 3-14 days depending on the distance of transport. below are common time frames for shipping between different part of the country.

        2. WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE ARE YOU SHIPPING

Vehicles like trucks, SUVs and vans are more expensive to transport than sedans or compacts. Modifications of vehicle like being lowered, lifted or oversize tires will also determine the transport cost. Basically the lager the vehicle the higher the cost will be for auto transporting and shipping.

        3. WHERE IS THE VEHICLE BEING SHIPPED TO AND FROM  

The distance plays a major role in the cost to transport your vehicle, as you probably guessed, the further the distance the vehicle will be transported the higher the price will be. Also if the pickup or drop off points are not heavily traveled routes or in hard to reach areas off the main highway  more fuel is needed, and you will pay more. If the transporter needs to get through a residential area, there are extra charges for permits and  this will impact the transport cost as well.

     4. IS YOUR VEHICLE OPERABLE OR INOPERABLE

If your vehicle is inoperable it will increase the transport cost between $150-$250 more, if the transporter will have to use special equipment or tow truck to get the vehicle on or off the trailer it will cost you extra .

           5. WHAT SERVICE DO YOU WANT DOOR to DOOR or TERMINAL to TERMINAL

Door to Door service is often less expensive. If your vehicle is transported Terminal to Terminal storage fees will accumulate each day its kept in the storage yard. Also, a terminal may be miles away from you, which can add travel costs for you to get to the closest terminal yard.

Door to Door shipping is more frequently use as it is consider to be more convenient.

The type of carrier truck used to transport your vehicle is a major factor in determining the cost of auto-transport. If you are considering using an enclosed carrier this will be more expensive up to 75%-100% more than what an open carrier would cost for the same distance, this is because an enclosed carrier has less space and will not exposed your vehicle to road elements, it has extra security and it is considered to be safer while an open carrier will  exposed  vehicle to road elements and has less security.

The problem is that a lot of transporters take a week or two off during the holidays, which decreases the supply of trucks on the market. As a result of the supply and demand, prices will go up, at least for the short term. After the holidays, car shipping prices slowly decreases when the supply of carriers normalizes.

During the months of March to May, snowbird season is in full effect as people are moving back North from the Southern States. During these months the price to ship a vehicle from Florida to New York is higher compared to the same route in the opposite direction. Expect to pay more if you are shipping your vehicle up north during the spring.

The period between spring late (May) and early (September) is a very busy season for the auto transport industry. This is the time that offer the best weather conditions for fast and safe auto transport. Summer is known as peak season for the auto transport industry, cars are bought and sold, people are shipping their cars to their vacation homes and more new vehicles are purchase, all increasing the demand of auto transport trucks.
